Braden + Tiffany Wedding Cactus & Tropicals

I had the pleasure of photographing Braden and Tiffany’s beautiful classic wedding at Cactus & Tropicals this past September. Not only was this day beautiful but the father daughter dance had me and everyone else that attended tearing up. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Seven Magic Mountain Elopement

I'm so excited to share this amazing colorful shoot with you guys that is being featured on Green Wedding Shoes blog today. If you are looking to elope in Vegas what perfect way of celebrating your love then an adventure filled with adrenaline running through your veins, and eloping to a gorgeous landscape with an epic colorful view.

This concept was inspired by the Seven Magic Mountains just south of the Strip on your way out to California. Some people driving past may have wondered what these were or may have even pulled over to checked them out for themselves. The artist Ugo Rondinone truly knows how to make a state piece fitting perfectly into the Vegas wow factor. We wanted to play off his colorful large-scale design, where the location is physically and symbolically mid-way between the natural and the artificial.

These rocks plays dramatically in this desert setting, and with such a bold design we didn't want to take away from the artist but still wanted our couple to be the main center of interest. We decide to use one color as our main focus by adding in the pink hues in the bouquet, earrings, and cake. This tied everything together while leaving the couple and rocks the center. We are loving the end result for a couple who wants to have a simple yet electric elopement in Vegas.

Lavender Fields Pantone Color of the Year

Fields of lavender never get old in my opinion. I feel that every girl has dreamed of running through a field full of flowers once in their lives, am I right? And what better way to do that then in a wedding dress created by Carol Hannah. When coming up with the concept of the shoot I wanted to incorporate that classic traditional feel with a more up to date modern ascetic. Infusing these two styles can be a little tricky without going over board on one side or the other. The more traditional traits from the tear drop shaped wedding ring, the white and gold foiled cake, to the invitations suite reminisces of a more romantic era. While The Potted Pansy uses her unique floral designs, adding texture and different tones of purple to bridged the two designs together.  All the vendors came together to make this lavender shoot at the Young Living Farm blend and fuse the Pantone color of the year together perfectly.

Black Wedding Inspiration

So excited to have Utah Valley Bride feature this black wedding inspiration over on their blog today. Here is some little details about the shoot and some of the inspirations behind the design of this incredible shoot.

Even though the white space of the venue offers a naturally clean and minimalist design, we wanted to take a step in the other direction and show off how well black can make for a polished design. The color plays dramatically in this setting, but I'm love the sophisticated non-traditional steps we took to make it all come together.

When you choose a dark color as the focal point of your wedding, adding textures and little pops of color such as gold and mauve will make sure everything doesn't get lost. Fresh flowers are a must and they bring life to the shoot. By not going with the typical dark purple or red it gives more of an organic feel and a blast right back into the design.

Natural elements like the inky charred wood and touches of gold on the table give the wedding a refined look. By adding in candles and the different colored roses to the centerpiece offers a softness and romance.

Trent + Kodi Manti Formals

The Manti Temple has to be one of my favorite Temples in Utah. It can be a little tricky to shoot at since it's on a huge hill but the castle like Temple is so worth it. When Kodi and Trent wanted to do formal pictures before their wedding day I could not have been happier! It gives us chance to take pictures in a more controlled timeline instead of feeling rushed on your wedding day to get everything done in one day and than you get to enjoy the big day with family and friends! These two are not only MODEL WORTHY, but they both have a hearts of GOLD! I don't know how I get so lucky with such wonderful down to earth couples, but I'm sure not complaining! Kodi wedding dress by Elizabeth Cooper Design was stunning on this beauty with hair and makeup done by Jesilyn, it was the perfect combo for these bridals. Keep on scrolling for some of my favorite shots of these two.

Josh + Kirstie Desert Wedding

Kirstie and Josh's wedding was so wonderful and amazing to be apart of! I went away feeling like I've known this couple my whole life and was so sad to see them head on back to Kentucky. This blog/wedding post I wanted to go a different way and have it from the brides point of view to help out other brides that are heading to Southern Utah to get married.

Josh and Kirstie choose to have a destination wedding in Southern Utah at the Petrified Dune in Snow Canyon State Park, where we are know for our red rocks and desert scenic desert views. They wanted and intimate setting with just close family and friends that they flew out for this special occasion. Their wedding showcases the beautiful locations down to the personal details of the bride and groom.

Words from the Bride and Groom

Location choice and venue details:
We choose to marry in the secluded Snow Canyon State Park, Utah. Being all the way from southern Kentucky, we relied on social media, youtube & Instagram to make our decision. After watching the Katy Perry music video where this film was taped, we instantly fell in love with the area & knew it was the spot for us. So, we trusted our guts & nailed down our permit. When we arrived in Utah, we visited Snow Canyon the rainy day before to choose a ceremony spot. Our guests stood around us which eliminated the stress of bringing chairs up to the area.

We ended the night enjoying a sunset reception at The Entrada, which was only a short drive from our ceremony area. The Entrada provided a beautiful background to Snow Canyon as the night melted into a romantic outdoor setting with bulb lights strung across the dance floor, a secluded bride & groom table, & cactuses to set it off. We shared our first dance on the event lawn surrounded by our closest family & friends.

Fav memory from day
Bride: As I remanence on our wedding day, one memory comes to heart. Josh & I decided to keep it traditional, so we didn't see each other until the ceremony. We had literally not spent a night away from each other in a very long time, so I woke to missing him terribly that morning. When the moment came when we saw each other, I just wanted to run & hug him! Being with him for several years, I had never seen him cry but once during our relationship. I secretly hoped he would have an emotional reaction but i wasn't counting on it. He bawled & I was so happy he did! His reaction to seeing me validated how much this day meant to him too. Throughout our portraits, he kept saying, “I just love this dress on you. It’s more than I imagined.”

Groom: My favorite part of the day was…you walking to me. That's the moment that I came to the realization, you were about to become my wife! During the moments of you walking down the petrified aisle, everything faded & there was only you. My anxiousness and nervousness melted away, exposing the way I truly felt, ready.

Advice for brides planning destination wedding now
1. Utilize Instagram. I booked our wonderful photographer & videographer through instagram. I loved having a large platform to view their work & to get to know them as well!
2. Don’t fret over the small things. After looking at the location spot, we knew instantly that chairs were not ideal & would be more of a hassle to pack up the canyon. So, we easily wrote that idea off & decided that standing would be just fine.
3. Email your vendors: I would forget details over the phone, so being able to refer back to emails for information was easiest!
4. Keep in touch with vendors.
Our photographer went beyond her job title. We instantly fell in love with her. She helped me choose several vendors & guided us through the process of planning, locations, etc.
The wedding coordinator at the Entrada, Mike Hobbs, was a gift from heaven. Josh & I took time to call him & email him throughout the planning process and we built a reliable & personal relationship with us. When we arrived there & finally met him, he treated us like family & went above and beyond for us. If your good to your vendors & give them the freedom at what the do best, they will be good to you!
